Join the fun exploring, sketching and painting the exquisite ferns at Fairchild! Students learn the basics of a fern's life cycle and ecology, along with the components that make up its structure, including the fronds, rhizomes, roots, sporangia and spores. With field notes thru keen observation and sketches, this class focuses on creating delicate botanical studies in graphite and watercolors of a few of the 13,000 species that have been growing on our planet for over 300 million years!

Paint some edible art with us! This delicious class is for everyone with watercolor experience looking for opportunities to develop, build, and apply their skills and techniques of painting with washes and dry brush, while focusing on form and texture, inspired by freshly picked and locally grown produce. Sample some of the "fruits of your labors" as you paint! *Students should bring all of their own drawing and watercolor supplies; a $10 fee will be collected on the first day of class for watercolor paper provided by your instructor.

Accomplished artist, Dottie Greene, will instruct a small group of students as they take watercolor painting to a new level with the understanding of color and light. Using transparent watercolor as the medium and working with a limited palette, students will distinguish the behavioral differences of pigments and explore the nuances of color while painting white objects. Participants should come to class with supporting reference materials of white objects (student photos that include some white objects, white flowers, etc.). Bring a light lunch.
